In today's message, we look carefully at Jesus's final statement to the sinful woman in Luke 7:36-50. He declares to her, "Your faith has saved you, go in peace." We will discuss what exactly Jesus meant by that and the amazing implications for us today.

Sunday Sep 24, 2023

In today's message, we look at the time when Jesus was over the house of Simon the Pharisee when a sinful woman comes in to anoint Jesus's feet. Jesus then tells the "Parable of the Two Debtors" which is a parable about forgiveness and one's response to being forgiven. The parable comes to life in a dramatic way, and Jesus makes some bold, incredible declarations of forgiveness. The one who is forgiven much, loves much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little. We discuss the narrative as a whole and then look at a few relevant takeaways for us today.

In today's message, we continue to look at the interaction that Jesus has with the crowds concerning John the Baptist. Jesus gives His own evaluation of John and then evaluates the people of His generation. It becomes apparent that there is a division among the people in response to Jesus and John. After walking through and explaining this surprisingly difficult to understand passage, we'll make a few brief notes of application and encouragement.

Sunday Sep 10, 2023

In today's message, we look at the long-distance interaction between Jesus and John the Baptist (who was in prison). John the Baptist initiates the conversation with a question that is indicative of some doubt. What exactly was causing John the Baptist to have doubts about Jesus? How did Jesus respond? We'll investigate those questions as well as how Jesus responds to us in our doubts.

In today's sermon, we see two very important characteristics of Christ--namely, His compassion and His complete authority. When we come to know Jesus in this capacity, it leads to genuine worship of His name. We see these characteristics clearly in our passage where Jesus raised the widow's son from the dead.

Faith That Jesus Marveled At

Sunday Aug 27, 2023

Sunday Aug 27, 2023

In today's message, Jesus heals the servant of a Gentile centurion without even physically being present. But that is not the main focus of the passage. Rather, the main focus is the centurion's faith which Jesus Himself marveled at. We will look at what was so unique about this Gentile's faith and how our faith can be marked by similar characteristics.

The Tale of Two Houses

Sunday Aug 13, 2023

Sunday Aug 13, 2023

In today's message, we discuss Jesus's closing remarks of his important sermon recorded for us in Luke 6. Jesus closes with one last illustration in which He contrasts two different houses and two different builders. One house is built on the solid rock, while the other house is built on the sand without any foundation. We will unpack what Jesus means by this illustration and the eternal implications for us today.

The Fruit Reveals the Root

Sunday Aug 06, 2023

Sunday Aug 06, 2023

In today's message, we look at Jesus's teaching on fruit bearing in Luke 6:43-45. And we see that His main point is that the fruit reveals the root. Faithfulness to Christ yields fruitfulness for Christ. We unpack what Jesus means by good and bad trees, good and bad fruit, and what type a fruit a tree can bear.

Be Careful Whom You Follow

Sunday Jul 30, 2023

Sunday Jul 30, 2023

In today's message, Jesus gives three reasons why we should be careful with whom we follow as teachers or influencers in our lives. And we will see that Jesus is the perfect teacher to follow.

Sunday Jul 23, 2023

In today's message, we look at two "simple" commands from Jesus: Forgive and Give. We look at what it means to forgive (and what it does not mean), who we forgive, why we forgive, and how to forgive. We then look at the main point of these short verses--namely, the measure you use will be measured back to you by God.
